Own Video Goodwins Therory

Olly Murs - Wrapped Up

1. All videos demonstrate certain genre characteristics. for example male boy bands and female singers all use dance routines, rappers will throw loads of gang signs.
The Olly Murs one shows him performing a dance routine on a treadmill with girls and backup dancers jumping in and out of the frame, being pop music this is stereotypical to the genre with them always including some kind of visual performance/dance.

2. There is always a relationship between lyrics and visual. it will either illustrate or contradict the words.
The video both illustrates and contradicts the words as although there connected it is more a dance inspired by the words than a physical illustrating of what his singing word for word.

3. there is a relationship between the music and the visuals. This could be how its edited or the movement in the piece in time to the music or cut to the beat.
The video is edited to look like an illusion of someone's head spinning in a confusing continues shot that is actually lots of different shots merged together to look like one with a few occasional cuts to the beat.

4. The demands of the record label that need for lots of close ups of the artist in order to promote them.
5. The artist may develop modifies or iconography that recut across their work. It has a repetitive visual style.
The video has a lot of close ups of the artist (Olly) and has a similar lay out to a lot of his other videos with a scene creating a kind of narrative happening behind him but the main focuses on him lip syncing the song.

6. There are frequently reference to the notion of looking. There will be TV screens or video cameras. or References to looking at a female body for pleasure.
Throughout the video there are constant references to looking at women especially in this video, with Olly Murs waking around dance from girl to girl starring into there eyes and all the background dancers being represented as attractive females switching from dancing and poseing to use male gaze.

7. There are intertextual references mostly film but also other music videos or in some cases popular culture.
There is intertextual reference to  the music video "OK Go - Here It Goes Again" in the way that it is design to be an almost continues take of  a dance routine performed on treadmills however Olly's is a lot more modern and has been edited to look a lot smaller and include more visual effects.
